The South Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department - announces another outdoor movie on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the South Pittsburg High School Football Field. The movie will start at 8:00 pm (or shortly after sundown). Admission to the movie is FREE!!! Also, make sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. The movie is "Horton Hears a Who". A ONE PITCH SOFTBALL LEAGUE - is being formed by the South Pittsburg Recreation Department. The league will run for part of July all the way through August with a tournament being held on the last weekend in August. The games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights starting at 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and if needed 8:00 pm. The fee is $300 per team (or you can look at it as $30 per 10 player team). If teams wish to have uniforms, they must purchase the uniforms. Please keep in mind that uniforms are not required to participate in the league. The fees for the league cover paying umpires, electricity for the field lights, chalk to line of the field, and other minor expenses. Please keep in mind that any profit that is produced from this league will be used towards funding additional leagues, facilities, and other events (ex. Outdoor Movies). The South Pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department - oversees the reservation of park facilities. South Pittsburg Park facilities are available to reserve for private functions. There is a form provided by the park department for reservations of park facilities. You can download this form to your computer, print it off and fill it in. Then follow the directions in getting it to the proper city official. Park facilities must be reserved for private functions. Marion County Planning & Building Office - is the place you need to check out first when you start building a house and getting a building permit in Marion County.
